About MEDLIFE Penn

MEDLIFE is an international NGO that was founded by Dartmouth Medical School graduate Nick Ellis. Headquartered in Lima, Peru, the NGO has numerous chapters at universities across the entire country. The three main tenants that MEDLIFE follows is to provide Medicine, Education, and Development for Low Income Families Everywhere.

MEDLIFE Penn is the University of Pennsylvania chapter of MEDLIFE, dedicated to serving both in the local West Philadelphia community and on international medical and public service brigades. MEDLIFE Penn is one of the leading community service organizations on our university campus.

Each year, we are proud to present:

  • Our annual MEDLIFE Spring Conference

  • Variety of community service events, including soup kitchen visits, food bank, VA hospital volunteering

  • MEDLIFE Fall and Spring Blood Drives, partnering with American Red Cross

  • MEDTalks

  • MEDucation project initiative, partnering with The School of the Future and Penn's GEAR UP

  • Pre-Health at Penn Workshop Series

We are always grateful to all of our partners in the community and at the university that support the causes we seek to promote through our contributions and work within the community.

Our Committees

Fundraising

Our fundraising committee organizes events, profit shares, and sponsorships in order to raise money for our local chapter's efforts, as well as for the international MEDLIFE NGO. Our most recent donation went toward sponsoring the medical treatment of a poor child in Chile.

Community Engagement

Our Community Engagement Committee works on campus and Philadelphia to give back to the community directly through service. By organizing blood drives, food and clothing banks, volunteering at soup kitchens, and teaching at inner city schools, the committee engages members on an event by event basis.

MEDTalks

Our MEDTalks committee plans our annual conference that happens toward the middle of every spring semester. From soliciting awesome speakers, to deciding what topic to educate attendees on, this committee plans all of the logistics of our MEDTalks.
